Special issue - Fish Reproduction in a Changing World: Physiology, Conservation and Stressors

The special issue will be published in Frontiers in Fish Science.

The issue welcomes submissions addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

i) Reproductive physiology: HPG-axis regulation, endocrine signaling, gametogenesis, and fertilization

ii) Impacts of anthropogenic and environmental stressors: temperature rise, hypoxia, acidification, salinity and flow changes, multi-class contaminant mixtures (EDCs, PFAS, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, metals), micro/nanoplastics, noise, and light pollution

iii) Biomarkers, adverse outcome pathways (AOPs), epigenetics, and transgenerational effects

iv) Biotechnologies for aquaculture: spawning control, broodstock nutrition and welfare, genomics, phenotyping, gene editing, hatchery and recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) optimization, and decision support

v) Conservation strategies: genetic management, supportive breeding, assisted reproduction, policy, and ethics

vi) Cryopreservation and biobanking: protocol development, quality control and assurance, and FAIR data management
