Training school for PhD students on conservation biology, wildlife management and genetic resource banking
The training school is dedicated to the scientific training of PhD students that are interested in conservation biology, wildlife management, genetic resource banking and biosecurity, including the importance of conserving farm animal biodiversity. The school will also include a workshop on innovation and commercialization, linking sciences to business, hosted by Ard Innovation. The 7-day event will mix theoretical lectures with practical work, excursions and field trips.
Lectures
Conservation genomics, safeguarding biodiversity and population management in wildlife and livestock
Cryobanking of animal genetic resources and integrated in situ en ex situ conservation strategies
Outreach and stakeholder engagement related to conservation genetics
Practical training
Hands-on training at the CGN animal gene bank, incl. quality control, documentation and long-term storage
Collection, processing and cryoconservation of male and female germplasm
‘Linking Science to Business’ by Ard Innovation
Theory on innovation, intellectual property rights (IPR) and commercialization
Impact workshop focusing on how your research can generate societal, environmental or economic impact — from research to real-world application

Participation fee: 700 €
