A New Milestone for CryoStore: European Patent Application Submitted
We are delighted to celebrate another important milestone in the CryoStore research journey: the submission of a European patent application to the European Patent Office (EPO).
The patent application, titled “Measuring chamber, Raman spectroscopy system, and method for analysing a biological cell” was received by the European Patent Office on 16 September 2026.
The invention brings together innovative approaches in Raman spectroscopy and biological cell analysis, reflecting the interdisciplinary research and technological development at the heart of CryoStore. By enabling advanced analysis of biological cells, the technology has the potential to contribute to new approaches for understanding and assessing cells in research and biotechnology.
The patent application lists CryoStore PhD Candidate Oleksandra Hubenia, and colleagues Rouven Tewes, Christina Winkler, and Birgit Glasmacher as inventors, all affiliated to the Institute for Multiphase Processes (IMP), Leibniz University Hannover. We warmly congratulate the inventors and everyone involved in bringing this innovation from research into the patent process.
